...and sometimes it doesn't. Like now. :) Several weeks ago I put up a post about how Brett and I were struggling with all kinds of frustrating things in our lives. As I said then, we decided to just put our trust in the Lord and move forward. Well, things are finally starting to look up and we are just so so so grateful!
Among other disappointments, a month ago we were facing problems like how they wouldn't let Brett into take the MCAT and that I wasn't even interviewed for a job that a manager invited me to apply for and I was sure I would get. Now Brett is signed up for another testing date, taking another prep course, and learning all kinds of great tactics for the MCAT. (We also heard that the test on the day he was supposed to take it was actually the hardest that one of our friends had ever taken...we're counting our blessings :) ). I got four job interviews last week (they all called on the same day!) and I found out yesterday that I got all four of the jobs!!! 3 of them were at Intermountain and they let me choose which one I wanted. :) I will be working at the Intermountain Health Care center in Murray as a Diet Tech. The fantastic thing is that this job is even better than the one I applied to earlier. I will get great experience, the hospital is beautiful, the people seem fantastic, and the job starts the week after I finish school...I don't think it could have worked out more perfectly.
We feel very blessed right now. We really are being watched over. It's so crazy, I've seen this over and over again in my life, my plans that I work so hard on making don't work out, only to be replaced with something much better a little farther down the line. The Lord truly knows what is best for us and things will always eventually fall into place if we put our trust in Him!

Cinco de Mayo!!!!
As our brilliant president said the day before cinco de mayo, "Happy cinco de cuatro!" I think the good man meant to say, "Happy cuatro de mayo," (I know, everyone makes mistakes!) either way, we stick with good old cinco de mayo here and we had a great celebration with some friends.
We went to my friend Bree's house, there was better than Cafe Rio Burritos with the most amazing pork ever. We had a pinata, little tiny margarita glasses, Mexican soda, little Mexican hats, and of course, big fat mustaches!

Brett's week-long birthday bash
It all started the Sunday before Brett's birthday, I surprised Brett with Easter baskets full of candy-filled eggs and seed packets for our garden. We decided to plant them on the following Saturday, for his birthday.
We woke up Saturday morning to 6 inches of snow (on the 30th of April). I fixed Brett a breakfast of Dutch Babies (German pancakes). And then started working on a four layer cake for later. The snow was frustrating, however, Brett was determined so after breakfast he went out in the snow to shovel the dirt and prepare it for planting our seeds. Luck was on our side for his birthday, the sun came out later and by the afternoon all the snow was melted. I joined him out in the yard and we planted carrots, beets, lettuce, arugula (not sure what this is), cucumbers, beans (purple and green), zucchini, and some flowers. We're excited to see what comes up, and we're hoping it wasn't too early to plant.
That night we went to the dollar theater to see Gnomio and Juliet. Which turned out to be one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen. But it was fun to be there with Brett.
Early on Saturday, I asked Brett what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday, he said, "a million dollar cake." So I created a 4-layer masterpiece, complete with two layers of devils food cake, two layers of marble cake, and chocolate mouse butter cream filling (I forgot to take a picture). On Sunday, we had our friends Landon and Cassie Romney and McKenzie and Nate Cerny over to help us eat our "million dollar cake." It was delicious and totally worth the effort.
On Thursday we went to the zoo! This is something we've been wanting to do since Brett's birthday last year! It was amazing!

A true BYU Cougar! and a regular cougar.
My favorite animal at the zoo. The elephants has the most amazing watering hole that I have ever seen! It had jets! And various levels so the elephants could wade in the water or swim. The water was crystal clear and so blue! I wanted to jump in there with the elephants.
Brett and I
Jacob's favorite animal at the zoo! :)
Looks like the apes just barely have us beat in arm span. But we beat them in height! And Brett the ape is trying to make a move on Sariah the ape.
Golden foul! Dad should get himself some of these!
Tiger!
Giraffe
Ostrich
Dyeing Easter eggs may be even more fun as an adult
This year we bought a dye kit with rollers for the dye. We also bought an egg monster kit, hair included. I think I enjoyed this year's egg dyeing more than I ever have!
Our Rollers
Top Right: Wilson Top Left: Monster!!! Middle Front: Blonde fro egg
We were both there!
What fun! This is a tradition we will be keeping. I encourage all of you to try out the new dye sets, really adds a lot to your Easter holiday. :)

Some things are worth waiting for
Recently life has been kind of a beast for Brett and I. For some reason things haven't been working out the way that we originally planned. Last night as I was planning our family home evening, two scriptures came to mind that became some of my absolute favorites on the mission, they continue to give me a lot of hope today, so I wanted to share them :)
The first is in Doctrine and Covenants 98:1-2. "Verily I say unto you my friends, fear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everything give thanks; Waiting patiently on the Lord, for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord, and are recorded with this seal and testament-the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted."
And the second is in Isaiah 40:31, "they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and the shall walk, and not faint."
Do I actually believe this? I have to respond with a hearty, resounding, yes! Brett and I discussed the many times we have had to wait on the Lord and received many blessing because of it. For example, when Brett broke his leg way back in freshman year of college, his mission was delayed, his friends all left, life was really awful, and then he started dating me! We think that this may have never happened if he hadn't broken his leg. This has been a huge blessing for both of us.
Many of you know we had to wait several years plus several unexpected months to finally be married. We waited because we were doing what we believed was right. During those years and months we went on missions, served the Lord, and learned a great deal of great things. We have already been so blessed by those years apart in our time together.
So life is hard, as it is for everyone. We are really starting to understand that. We are just so grateful for the knowledge that God is watching over us. We know we will continue to be guided and blessed because we choose to put our hope in Heavenly Father and wait for His timing.
