A New Way to Celebrate President's Day

While I was sitting around enjoying my day off on President's Day it hit me that I have never really celebrated the day before. Even through 20+ years of getting it off of school, I have never done anything to show my respect or appreciation for the presidents of this amazing country. So, Brett and I started brainstorming what we could possibly do to show them the respect they (most of them) deserve. In the end, we decided to start a tradition and to learn about one president each year on President's Day we also thought it appropriate to involve dessert. So, naturally we started with George Washington. We made this cake highlighting his most famous line and we read some facts about him on Wikipedia while we enjoyed the cake. It was a blast. Did you know George Washington was the only President ever to receive 100% of the electoral college votes. Way to go George!

  1. Great idea to remember to celebrate the holiday and not just to take it off. Cute cake! Cute hair too!

  2. Oh my gosh! I laughed out loud at this story - what a fun idea! Maybe Jeff and I will copy your new tradition. Glad you're back in the blog-o-sphere. Don't worry about the pictures - it's impossible to get them in the right spot.
