Can you make a rat cage?

That was the question that spurred our crazy Saturday adventure. We went to Home Depot to brain storm cage ideas...and we ended up buying all the supplies. We have been looking into buying a new cage, our rats are getting too big for their hamster cage, this cut the new cage cost in half.

    I know, I didn't want to upset her by making a point of that on her comment on facebook... :) At least these ones are tame and very sweet...and caged.

    Is anyone else concerned that rats just might be able to fit through chicken wire? Or can't they?

    Tori, right now they can, so we still keep them in their old cage, but they are getting bigger and one of them almost gets stuck now when she goes through. So, we're thinking that soon they will be too big to fit through.
