While I was sitting around enjoying my day off on President's Day it hit me that I have never really celebrated the day before. Even through 20+ years of getting it off of school, I have never done anything to show my respect or appreciation for the presidents of this amazing country. So, Brett and I started brainstorming what we could possibly do to show them the respect they (most of them) deserve. In the end, we decided to start a tradition and to learn about one president each year on President's Day we also thought it appropriate to involve dessert. So, naturally we started with George Washington. We made this cake highlighting his most famous line and we read some facts about him on Wikipedia while we enjoyed the cake. It was a blast. Did you know George Washington was the only President ever to receive 100% of the electoral college votes. Way to go George!

Day after Valentines Day=A lot less expensive
Disclaimer: I tried really hard to get this pictures right side up, but in the end I decided you can all see them just fine this way and so I won't waste my whole morning working on it and ending up completely frustrated with my blog and then being too scared to add another post for another 7 months. So be happy with what you get :)
We are not very good about celebrating holidays on the right day. For Valentines Day, the Saturday before the actual day, we went out to this nice new Mexican restaurant called Milagros, it was delicious and surprisingly cheap. On Valentines Day, Brett took a test and I cleaned the house. The pictures below are what I did for him the day after Valentines Day. It's actually a really good set up because holidays last a lot longer.
